TPE elastomer is widely used, such as TPE encapsulated ABS. Because TPE has the elasticity of rubber, and its hardness can be adjusted from 0 to 100 Shore Hardness, it provides a variety of possible choices for different material requirements of users. However, in the process of injection molding and encapsulation, there will also be the phenomenon of degumming of TPE, which needs special attention. The reasons for the degumming of TPE encapsulation are as follows:
1. thickness and area of encapsulation
The larger the coating thickness and area of the product, the longer it takes TPE to flow in the mold cavity to finish coating, but the longer the time, the greater the temperature decrease during the flow of the compound in the mold cavity, and the decrease of temperature is not conducive to the adhesive bonding.
2. Formula of TPE
The formula of TPE must contain components compatible with ABS, that is to say, TPE coated with ABS is not suitable for every brand.
3. Wet and dry degree of materials
According to the characteristics of materials and the feeding conditions, the appearance and technological properties of materials should be tested before molding. The supplied pellets often contain different degrees of moisture, flux and other volatile low molecular substances, especially the moisture content of TPE with hygroscopic tendency always exceeds the allowable limit for processing. Therefore, it is necessary to dry before processing and measure the water content.
